The first text of European philosophy does not present a Romanesque fresco, but the subject matter itself. Only the hard Latin is sensual: et habet in intellectu et intelligit esse. But painting does not just appear as an example of a doctrine, but as its proof. It is then decisive whether the paint is applied thickly or thinly, so thinly that Thomas von Poschinger’s pictures were made with a smartphone. The reference to the device is correct, but not important. It is also correct, but not important, that Thomas Helbig did not paint a fresco. The only important thing is what it says at the end: quod iam fecit, what he has already done, the work of art itself.
