With MATER, the Museum Villa Stuck presents the second exhibition by the artist Gonzalo Borondo. This immersive and interdisciplinary exhibition blends elements of installation, soundscape and walk-in image machine. At its heart lies art as a bridge between the tangible and the symbolic. Borondo uses spiritual imagery as metaphors for existential and personal experiences. The exhibition unfolds like a monumental opera and, in collaboration with the poet Ángela Segovia and the musician Niño de Elche, transcends the boundaries of traditional art forms. The exhibition itinerary brings together classical fairy tales, ancient mythology, Baroque iconography and electronic music.
Gonzalo Borondo lives and works between Spain and Italy. He gained international renown through monumental murals, installations and mixed-media projects in which he creates visual spaces that appear to be in a constant state of transformation.
