The overview exhibition “KI$$ KI$$” by the artist and filmmaker Shu Lea Cheang takes the artist’s first feature film “Fresh Kill” (1994) as a starting point to explore her visionary world-building practices. In three scenarios, the exhibition combines updated and previously unrealized works, going beyond the presentation of individual objects. The internet-based installation, software interaction, and multiplayer performance invite the audience to play and explore.
“KI$$ KI$$” interprets the exhibition as a transformative journey or, as the artist calls it, a “machine of experience.” From a different perspective, but in dialogue with Parreno, Shu Lea Cheang’s bold science fiction narratives revolve around non-human intelligences, both natural and artificial.
