VO Social Club with Anna Wondrak (Stiftung Kunstfonds), Silvia Köhler (Bundesverband Künstlernachlässe), Dr. Julia Geiger (Archiv Geiger) and Ulrich Meinherz (Kesselhaus Josephsohn)
An artist’s estate is a special kind of treasure — but one that must be kept alive: through scholarly research, careful conservation, and above all – the focus of our conversation – through the continuous activation of the artistic work, ensuring it remains visible and continues to resonate in new contexts.
Art history is rich in examples of once-prominent figures who have since been forgotten, as well as artists who were rediscovered only posthumously — often thanks to smart and dedicated estate work.
In conversation with two experts on artist estates, Anna Wondrak and Silvia Köhler, and the two curators and estate caretakers Julia Geiger and Ulrich Meinherz, we will discuss what it takes for Contemporary Art to become a living art history. In times of tight funding and overflowing storages, when the market is constantly searching for new trends, reflecting on the work with a completed artistic oeuvre can not only offer an exciting alternative perspective, but may also provide insights into the broader significance of art itself.
The conversation will be held in German. Please note that capacity is limited. Participation is only possible with prior registration and confirmation. Please register by November 27, 2025 at guest@variousothers.com.
