The exhibition “No Single View” presents new works by Ilit Azoulay, which emerged from a two-year exploration of Villa Stuck and its history. During the museum’s refurbishment, Azoulay developed two exhibitions that build on one another: With ‘Stopover’ (2024/25), she turned her attention to the temporary premises at Goethestraße 54, which was used as a forced accommodation centre for Jewish families during the Nazi era; ‘No Single View’ now takes this research into the Villa itself. At the centre is the two-channel installation ‘Mary’. Drawing on the voices of 77 actresses, it unfolds a multi-layered portrait of Franz von Stuck’s daughter – yet the historical Mary is merely the starting point. The result is a photographic archive that functions not as a fixed record of memory, but as an open framework of possible narratives – plural, subjective, and constantly open to reconstruction.
