The Greek philosopher Aristotle was already familiar with this principle: light enters a darkened room through a small hole, creating an upside-down image of the outside world. Magical! It has fascinated artists and scholars for centuries, and it ultimately led to the invention of photography.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build your own pinhole camera. It’s also called a “camera obscura.” You can design it however you like. Like the artists in the “Carrying” exhibition, you’ll use it to explore places in and around the museum. What images and stories will you encounter? With the pinhole camera, you can capture them and experiment with them. This creates exciting images and new perspectives on your surroundings.
