The exhibition Testing Facility takes place in the former testing and research facilities of the Siemens complex in Munich-Obersendling – a place that to this day embodies the spirit of industrial research, technological innovation and experimental practice. The project utilises the spatial and historical resonance of this environment as a starting point for an artistic examination of processes of experimentation, failure and the transfer of material and conceptual knowledge.
The remaining architectural test rooms, technical equipment and measuring instruments are consciously integrated into the artistic works. Building on the material traces and multi-layered histories of the site, the participating artists explore the relics of industrial modernism and transform them into contemporary aesthetic constellations. The former laboratory thus becomes a stage for reflection, transformation and reinterpretation.
