The collector Dr Markus Michalke will give a guided tour through the exhibition “MAPPING OUT THOUGHTS”, the exhibition series “SHADES OF THOUGHT 3/3”
We will also present the catalogue that was created for the three-part exhibition series.
In recent months, the “Shades of Thought” exhibition series has moved ever closer to the origins of the artistic idea. In the third exhibition, “Mapping out Thoughts”, works are shown that are very similar to the first sketches of an idea: Drawings on grids. Instead of the proverbial “blank sheet of paper”, the artist chooses an existing system into which she formulates and expresses her idea. Whether it is graph paper for spatial objects, simple chequered paper or large sheets for architectural designs – in all these works it becomes clear how the creative thinking and design process takes place. In the final part of the exhibition series, various artists show in different ways how this process becomes visible.
With works by Carl Andre, Jo Baer, Robert Barry, Jennifer Bartlett, Mel Bochner, Alighiero Boetti, Bill Bollinger, Michael Buthe, Dan Christensen, Hanne Darboven, Michael Heizer, Gordon Matta-Clark, Larry Poons, Fred Sandback, Robert Smithson, James Turrell, Lawrence Weiner
The three-part exhibition series is accompanied by a catalogue with a text by Dr. Verena Hein, which we are pleased to present to you.
