In the darkness, light, scent, visuals, and sound create a sensuous space. The elements flow into one another. Images appear and disappear in the darkness, fading to white. A space between spaces arises, without form or boundaries. An indeterminate presence wanders, does not fade away, and merges with the field of light.
Lichun Tseng (born 1979) is a Taiwanese artist based in the Netherlands. In her works, she explores the essentiality and entity of life. Observation and reflective contemplation are central motifs of her practice. In her cinematic works, she captures the indescribable yet sensually perceivable state of an invisible in-between using light-sensitive film material. Her artistic research and practice are primarily realized with 16-mm film, installations, and audiovisual performances. She is a member of FilmWerkplaats, a artist-run film laboratory in Rotterdam.
