Since the 1980s, >Barbara Gross has been one of the leading figures in the Munich art scene and a pioneer for female artists, particularly regarding their visibility in the art market and their presence in museums and major international exhibition projects. After Barbara Gross recently donated her archive to the >ZADIK | Central Archive for German and International Art Market Studies, we are very pleased to welcome the director, Prof. Dr. Nadine Oberste-Hetbleck, to Munich. Together with >Deborah Schamoni, one of the most important voices in Munich’s contemporary art scene, they will discuss the legacy of the gallery, the historical and current challenges faced by female gallerists, and explore what it means to run an internationally recognized gallery based in Munich.
