In her exhibition at Kunstraum München, Franziska Nast condenses existential and everyday emotional states into an atmospheric whole. Between impermanence, lightness, longing, party, glamour, and resistance, the complex moods of the »nasty universe« unfold across both floors of the space.
Nast works with materials such as skin, rice paper, metal, and asphalt, which she tattoos, perforates, or sandblasts. Drawings and texts merge with the surfaces of found and self-produced objects, entering into a dialogue with their personal and societal layers of meaning.
Just as she shifts between media, Nast navigates fluidly between her roles – as artist, tattooist, founder of the fashion label »Fack Fushion«, mother, and co-founder of the Kunstverein St. Pauli.
»M for mood« opens up a space for engaging with emotional and material states, as well as the personal and societal aspects of memory, care work, gender, and affect.
