Iris Touliatou develops her works in relation to the infrastructures and processes—spatial, administrative, linguistic—that are inherent to the site of exhibition. Her solo exhibition at Kunstverein München, the most extensive in Germany to date, is a site-responsive project structured through scores that treat the institutional framework not as backdrop but as co-constitutive material. Composed as protocols, her works reveal the mechanisms that govern institutions and their actors, while attending to questions of affect, labor, and language.
The artist’s new body of work unfolds alongside a moment of institutional transition. With leadership changes imminent and the current curatorial team preparing its final exhibition, the show navigates a shifting terrain of civic and structural negotiation. The institution is not understood as a neutral container, but as an active agent in the formation of subjectivities, publics, and potential futures.
