The exhibition Luz del Sur presents works created by artist Gala Berger during her residency at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus.
Berger’s cross-disciplinary practice informs her textile collages, evoking overlooked narratives and linking them to contemporary urgencies. Her installations combine fabrics, pigments, digital files, tablecloths, prints, and oral histories, assembled into mobiles, wall hangings, and large-format textile works. Luz del Sur takes its title from an electric utility company in Lima, becoming a point of connection–between cities, dim light and shadow, organic matter and industrial surfaces. The works also reflect Berger’s research on German shadow theatre in Munich, tracing links to Latin American narratives. The exhibition expands her interest in hybrid traditions and how images and stories migrate across geographies, emphasizing multiplicity and the coexistence of many voices.
