Over the past few months, the “Shades of Thought” exhibition series has moved ever closer to the origin of the artistic idea. In the third exhibition “Mapping out Thoughts”, works are shown that are very similar to the first sketches of an idea: Drawings on grids. Instead of the proverbial “blank sheet of paper”, the artist chooses an existing system into which she formulates and expresses her idea. Whether it is graph paper for spatial objects, simple chequered paper or large sheets for architectural designs – all these works clearly show how the creative thinking and design process takes place. In the final part of the exhibition series, various artists show in different ways how this process becomes visible.
The three-part exhibition series is accompanied by a catalogue with a text by Dr Verena Hein.
