We mark the moment the parasite neutralises its host: Deepwater Horizon by Maxine Weiss has steadily expanded through the space, overtaking other works and now occupying the Lothringer 13 Halle entirely. While the rest has disappeared, the parasite remains—for two more weeks.
Developed during her FORECAST residency, Weiss’s evolving installation infiltrates the architecture of Lothringer 13 Halle, mimicking and disrupting the building’s infrastructure. Constructed from wire grids and hybrid materials, the work references the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill as a symbol of ecological collapse and the failure of extractive systems.
