one sees a tree and says tree. perhaps because one knows what a tree is. perhaps one knows because one has already seen others. a tree, at any rate. or an image of one. what came first is difficult to say.
the exhibition begins at this point. with the names that are already there. with the images that are already there. with an idea of something before that something is already there.
october is not here yet. one calls it october anyway. works fine. the thing comes later.
