Alex Murray-Leslie and Melissa E. Logan took part in a painting competition as students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1995: together they gave themselves a name and founded a performance art collective: Chicks on Speed. By the turn of the millennium, the collective had developed its own artistic practice, which drew on influences from radical art movements of the 20th century such as Dada, Fluxus, Situationism and queer feminism and went far beyond the usual disciplinary boundaries of the time.
The exhibition takes a journey through almost 30 years of work by Chicks on Speed. The curators and core members of the collective for this exhibition are Kathi Glas, Tina Frank, Leslie Johnson and Alex Murray-Leslie.
The opening will be accompanied by a performance in collaboration with the chamber choir of the Südbayerische Werkstätten für Blinde und Sehbehinderte (SWW).
