With Sammlung+ , the Sammlung Moderne Kunst in the Pinakothek der Moderne has been presenting works from its holdings since 2019. New acquisitions, discoveries and, last but not least, thematic focuses show the diversity of the holdings in collaboration with partners and foundations.
In July 1949, the non-objective group, later ZEN 49, came together in Munich. After the years of National Socialism, during which abstract art had been denigrated as “degenerate” in women’s exhibitions, the group wanted to gain new visibility and contribute to a moral renewal. In the following years, ZEN 49 proved to be an integrative and clearly internationally orientated association of artists and strengthened the acceptance of non-objective art forms in the Federal Republic.
With works by Willi Baumeister, Rupprecht Geiger, Brigitte Matschinsky-Dennighoff, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Woty Werner, Fritz Winter and others.
