Have you ever wondered how artworks get to the museum? Who is in charge of caring for the artworks and addressing their special needs? And if works of art need to travel—maybe even by plane to a museum on a different continent—then who organizes the packaging, transport, insurance, customs, and on-site installation? What happens if an artwork gets damaged? In her role as registrar, Maria Espinosa is responsible, among other things, for making sure that loaned artworks can be displayed at Museum Brandhorst. She is able to tell you exciting background stories, for example, how countless bricks from Kate Newby’s work “anything, anything” (2024–26) were installed outside Museum Brandhorst on the occasion of the exhibition “Carrying.”
