Charmaine Poh explores the themes of ‘Devotion/Disappearance’ and offers insights into her artistic practice over the past five years. She presents new works which were exhibited, amongst other venues, at her first institutional solo exhibition, “Make a travel deep of your inside, and don’t forget me to take” (PalaisPopulaire Berlin, 2025) and which will be on display from September 2026 at the MUDEC in Milan as part of the “Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year” award. The exhibition comprises videos, photographs and objects. Poh explores how marginalised figures perceived as female (femme figures) have developed strategies of opacity and elusiveness, whilst at the same time asserting their existence. The protagonists defy simple categorisation: they navigate the realms of myth, history and the digital present, whilst remaining deeply rooted in the multifaceted contexts of Singapore and its regional diaspora.
